Review of 2014

On this first day of 2015, and feeling miserable with a cold, a good time to reflect on our travels this past year, and a look back at good times and happy memories, captured in my photos.   Hoping that continued good health will allow us more of the same this coming year.   This a deliberate selection of landscapes and not people, otherwise this could be a rather lengthy blog!

No escape in JANUARY, but a couple of frosty mornings were ideal for for photography

Easthampstead Park, Bracknell
Frosted Cow Parsley nr Arborfield

The River Thames was in flood for several weeks including FEBRUARY, and crossing at Aston was not an option. But good for reflections, where normally there would be no water.

Aston, Nr Henley

FEBRUARY and our first trip of the year to visit family in Aberystwyth. Crossing the Elan Valley, we were lucky with some good weather in this desolate part of Wales.

Elan Valley, with blown highlights, but the sun was shining in WALES!!

Flooding continued into MARCH, and this churchyard in the Chiltern Village of Fingest, remained underwater for many weeks. A strange, but beautiful site.

Mid MARCH and an overnight at Lyme Regis, meant we were able to capture the sunrise.

Early start at Lyme Regis

A 6 day photography holiday in the Lake District in late MARCH... so many to choose from!

Crummock Water

No escape in APRIL, but some amazing colours from the local rape fields in Wokingham

MAY, and a trip to New Lanark, to a family wedding.

Tinto Hill on the edge of Lanark, Scotland

Next a trip to Sicily in MAY
Early morning mist from our Villa, Sicily

JUNE and an overnight in Dartmoor, followed by a trip to San Francisco. Babysitting our grand daughter was the main reason for our trip, but we also had a short break to Sonoma.

Sonoma, at Goat Rock
In JULY, I took a trip on my own to Lanarkshire to visit Dad, who now lives in Uddingston. I visited Bothwell Castle at sunset one evening with my brother who lives in walking distance.

Bothwell Castle at sundown

A day trip in JULY to Stowe Landscape Gardens.

In AUGUST met up with family at Hidcote Manor Gardens

Then took Grand daughter Willow to her Aunt's in Aberystwyth, mid AUGUST so through the Elan Valley again. This derelict village in Cwmystwyth always of great interest.

SEPTEMBER, and another trip north to visit Dad, but then continued on to Skye for two nights.

OCTOBER, and I was amongst the many thousands who helped plant the ceramic poppies in the moat at the Tower of London

NOVEMBER, and grandson BrĂ¢n's first birthday party, took us back to Aberystwyth for the third time this year. We stayed in a hotel on the seafront, so up before sunrise.

Still NOVEMBER, and 3 nights in Genoa, Italy
Evening sun in Genoa

And a day trip in NOVEMBER to Winkworth Arboretum

And so to DECEMBER, and a VERY early start to arrive in time for sunrise on a very frosty morning at Avebury Circle.

Not been out with my camera for two weeks! Must get out there!!
