Bothwell Castle

Bothwell Castle is the largest and finest 13th century stone castle in Scotland, much fought over during the Wars of Independence. It is just a 5 minute walk from my brother's house, and we took a walk about 9 oclock one evening just as the sun was setting.

It is free to walk around, and you can continue your  walk along the footpath following the River Clyde.

The first view from the car park
Following a steep track towards the river, the next view is looking upwards, and through the grass seedheads

Native cowparsleys on the bank too looking lovely

The sun now gone, but the wispy clouds take on the final glow

The tall verticle Purple Loosestrife add foreground interest

Reaching the riverbank, where the drama is the sky is reflected.
